Calendar Event Posting Policy

The Visit Northfield calendar is a tool to help promote community events and activities and inform and attract tourists to Northfield.  Events should attract visitors to the community, be open to the public, community-oriented and sponsored by a Northfield organization or business.

Events must be submitted to the Northfield Convention & Visitors Bureau in writing for review prior to posting on the calendar.  The Northfield Convention & Visitors Bureau reserves the right to refuse to post announcements that are deemed offensive, inappropriate, not in the public interest or in conflict with this policy or the mission of the Northfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Acceptable Events:                                 

Examples of events that will be posted to the VisitingNorthfield.com community events calendar include:

  1. Events must be open to the public including community street fairs, farmer’s markets, local school/college events, sporting events, festivals and other community activities.

  2. Events must be located within the cities of Northfield or Dundas.

  3. Fundraiser events for non-profit agencies, schools and other organizations.

  4. Informational seminars, lectures and meetings.

  5. Performances, gallery openings and other art events.

  6. Public events hosted by local businesses.

Unacceptable Events:

Events submitted for posting containing any of the following shall not be approved for posting:

  1. Profane language or content.

  2. Events that promote a specific religious, political activity or belief.

  3. Sexual content or links to sexual content.

  4. Content that promotes or fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.

  5. Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity.

  6. Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.

  7. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party.

  8. Private events such as family reunions and birthday parties.

  9. Estate sales, auctions or garage sale advertisements.

  10. Business events that are primarily sales or discounts.
