Have you ever wanted to feel like you were in the middle of a Norman Rockwell painting? A cozy small town, perfectly dusted with snow, carolers walking the streets, roaring bonfires, and the spirit of Christmas is everywhere you turn? Look no further than Northfield’s Winter Walk. This year it takes place on the 10th of December from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Division street. If you haven’t gone before, I sure hope you go this year. It’s a wonderful tradition you can do with your family, it has something for everyone!
You’ll be welcomed by luminaries lighting the streets, with the scent of bon fire in the air. The shops and galleries have great discounts during the celebration, reindeer and horse sleigh rides go up and down Division Street, there’s also a fun one-on-one with Santa at First National Bank for the children. The one thing that is a must, even if the long line might steer you away is Quality Bakery for their freshly baked goods. They will fill your stomach with made-from-scratch rosettes, sugar cookies, monster donuts, and fresh lefse. Sweet, sweet and uber Minnesotan lefse. If you aren’t filled to the brim with sugary snacks, you can sip on homemade cocoa or apple cider. Let this small town make you feel like you’re on the set of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Too bad you can’t use black and white filters in real life, eh?
