- Reception for Krisi Lillie: Tiny Impressions
When: Friday, August 2nd | 7-9 p.m
Where: 304 Division St., Northfield, MN, 55057, United States
In the Guild Members Gallery. This exhibition features oil paintings by Krisi Lillie which explore the landscape of Southern Minnesota. Artist Statement: Tiny Impressions reflects my interpretation of the natural beauty that surrounds us, providing endless compositions to paint. I am especially intrigued by the moods of the clouds. My primary focus is to portray nature in a whimsical, semi-abstract fashion as opposed to a more literal depiction. I reach this goal by selecting a creative color palette which I apply with a painting knife to generate movement, texture, and a modicum of whimsy.

- The Odyssey
When: August 2-11
Where:411 West Third Street, Northfield, MN, 55057
These dramatic scenes from Homer’s myth begin with a modern young woman who is struggling to understand Robert Fitzgerald’s translation of The Odyssey. A classical muse appears, and the young woman becomes the goddess Athena–a tireless advocate for Odysseus in his struggle to get home. With her trademark irreverent and witty twist on classic works, Zimmerman brings to life the story of Odysseus’s ten-year journey, depicting his encounters with characters such as the Cyclops, Poseidon, Calypso, the Sirens, and others. The show is done in “bare bones grandeur” with imagined environments and epic landscapes with creative storytelling.
